-even if you are not getting on the bike, spray your bits with TriSlide when wearing tri shorts on a run. That long run left me a sweaty mess and the seam of my chamios left me very, very, very chafed along the underside. OUCH. I have never had a chafe burn like that.
-when you are that chafed on the undercarriage, a 4.5 hour ride and run off the bike only make it worse.
-attempting a 100 mile ride on the trainer during thunderstorms and dounpours the following day will only leave you bleeding and begging for mercy.
-New Skin Liquid Bandage was suggested and purchased. Painting this onto the chafing was akin to pouring rubbing alcohol over 100,000 papercuts. But it kind of helped after I stopped screaming and writhing around on the floor...
(doing much better now in case you were wondering)
-don't forget about that 10k you signed up for in February and go run it without telling your Coach.
Or adding a second long ride the weekend because the trainer fest/bleeding undercarriage stopped you from going the entire distance Rx'd without telling your Coach.
Especially four weeks out from your A race of the season.
-and at that 10k, it's totally OK to geek out while meeting Meb Keflezighi. He was so, so nice! Lola loved meeting him too...and he loved meeting Lola. He even tweeted a pic of them hanging out!
It was such a fun day with friends and Casey ran too! Casey smoked it with a 45:44 for an avg pace of 7:20 on some pretty hills. Not bad for someone who just started running! I'm very proud of him!!
(and yes, he beat me!!)
-I run really, really well in cool weather and rain. I did not race, but 2 miles in I decided to just go for it and see what I could do. I ran a 48:53...on the tail end of a 22 hour training week. I'll take it!

-I am obsessed with cucumber water
What a week!! And oucccccch!
ReplyDeleteI freakin' LOVE that first photo!! And all of the ones during recovery week -- beautiful!
ReplyDeletePS: I'm obsessed with cucumber water, too! All infused water as of late, actually :)
Ouch!
ReplyDeleteLove the beach and MEB pictures. Lola is famous.
Did you run the SHipyard Half? It was sooo hot!
I guess you can kinda relate to Casey and the jalepeno fiasco now!! Does milk help for chafing too?
ReplyDeleteI think I have learned how to manage bad chafes down-under. Neosporin during the day and baby powder while you sleep, it seemed to quicken the healing process
ReplyDeleteYou are kicking some serious ass! I saw you and Casey at the start in line for the port-o-potties! Awesome pics with Meb and Joanie!
ReplyDeleteoh wow. I don't see how you put in that training week with chaffing on your undercarriage!!!!!
ReplyDeletegah!!!!!!!!!!
congrats to your hubby and as always,i LOVE the pictures of lola!!!those beach ppictures remind me of the ones you posted when you first started your blog, where she ran and did belly flops in in the big puddles! 1 2 3 go lola go!!!!!
hope your chafing feels better asap. I couldn't imagine!!!!!
*hugs*
I've been fighting some chafing on the long bike rides the last two weeks. When I'm done it felt/looked like I tried masterbating with sandpaper. just awful. I totally feel your pain.
