If you have been reading my blog for a while, you know that I am absolutely in love with everything from Tough Chik.
If you are a new reader, you are probably wondering "what is Tough Chik?" so let me introduce you --
Tough Chik is not just a clothing line, it is an outlook on life. All women have a personal story that makes them tough and our goal is to celebrate Tough Chik triumphs in a creative way. We want to revolutionize women's performance apparel by linking it to something more profound than just pretty designs.
As Team Tough Chik, we are designers, marketers, runners and cyclists that feed on creative expression. We are proud of our shin splints, scars and pedicures. We strive to support women of all shapes, sizes and backgrounds who celebrate life and seek to conquer its challenges and adventures.
I wear Tough Chik racing:

Working hard at the Y's indoor tri |
Shannon, the owner, designer and Captainn Awesome of Tough Chik just finished up an epic 7 day cycling tour from San Francisco to Los Angeles - The Aids Lifecycle. Shannon also raised over $3,000 for this event so this is the perfect time to celebrate one BADA$$ Tough Chik (Shannon, of course!) with a review (and giveaway) from Tough Chik's cycling line!!
I got the Aqua Tough Chik cycling jersey a while ago and I could not wait until the Maine winter was gone so I could get out and ride in this jersey.
2011 Tough Chik Aqua Cycling Jersey
•Women's specific cut
•Technical wicking fabric
•Form fitting for competitive riding (they run small so consider ordering a size up)
•¾ Hidden Zipper
•3 large back pockets
Price: $70.00
My first ride out with my TC jersey was a cold Spring day in Maine (sorry, no pictures of this adventure). I was able to layer it with a UA cold weather top and still managed to be functional while looking cute! But, lucky for me the weather has warmed and this is my go to cycling jersey for many reasons.
I wore it out on my first big group ride two weeks ago and lots of the ladies just loved it~it was certainly an ice breaker.
It's comfortable. Yes, it is a race cut and while I normally wear a size medium in most tops, I did opt for a large in this one. It fits great-not too tight but not too loose (you don't want your cycling top riding up on ya!). As I mentioned, I could layer it and still be comfortable but yet it is fitted enough to not chafe or ride up. It did not bind my arms and allowed for plenty of movement. It's tech material is also wicking so worries about sweating like a beast (which I do!) when out on a hard ride.
It's cute. I mean, really. Do you know how many comments I get from both males and females whenever I wear this out? The colors pop (a plus when you are out on the road) and yet it is stylish too. Win-win. It's girly. without being too girly.
It's a reasonable price point. If you have ever purchased a quality cycling jersey, you know that they are easily $100.00 and upwards. There is no skimping on quality in this jersey and it is a price that won't break the bank.
I love Tough Chik's unique designs--

ReplyDeleteMan, I haven't had any real cycling adventures that come to mind. But I always ride solo so that is usually an adventure in itself.
ReplyDeleteYou and I are Tough Chiks because we train in the winter in MAINE. And I can pee on my bike. Does that make me tough or just not potty trained?
ReplyDeleteI would pick out the pink no sleeve jersey or the shorts...cuz I like to look good since I'm not fast. I don't have any good cycling adventures other than the last long ride I did, 33 miles, I totally bonked and my husband was about ready to go get the car and pick me up - nutrition is a good thing, must remember to eat before riding that far! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway! I would get the running zen tee shirt and the tough chik ball cap :) I <3 Tough Chik!

I couldn't choose! Either the tank for yoga, or the green tshirt to train clients in!
I was in an adventure race years back (4 yrs?). It involved mountain biking. We biked through downtown, HILLS, fields, marshy areas and even had to carry our bikes on our shoulders through a creek. It was a BLAST. The first extreme race I did, and we finished 7th out of 20+ female teams.
I'm a tough chic, because I've been pursuing what I want to do in life to help others and help me at the same time. I recently became a personal trainer, and soon enough I will have my RYT (Yoga) as well. I like to train o/s the gym when I can--using whatever I can find-my son's bike for shoulder presses, laundry soap to row, or monkey bars for pullups.
I follow you!
ReplyDeletehmmm, I have zero cycling gear, so maybe I'd put the winnings towards the bike shorts!

ReplyDeleteI am a tough CHIK because I battle with IBS every day, but still work a full-time job, farm on a CSA one early morning a week (I work nights), and am training for a bunch of 5Ks this year, two of which I am running in memory of my deceased relatives who died of lung cancer.
I'd buy Tough Chik Woman's Cycling Shorts Style #990004 for sure ! I have a century ride coming up in september and for what could very well be an 8 hour ride, lol, I'm going to want proper cycling shorts !
